Peace Celebrates First Adult Learner Honor Society Cohort

A group of William Peace University students made history on November 14 as they were recognized for their academic achievement while also chartering a new chapter of an honor society for adult learners.

Peace students were sworn into the inaugural cohort of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the premier national honor society for adult learners. Fifteen students attended in person, with four more joining virtually. An additional four students were sworn in earlier on October 14.

Executive Director of Online Programs Lori McClaren commended the group for balancing work, families, and school to achieve this honor.

“It’s a firm commitment that you’ve put into your academics,” McClaren said. “We wanted to find a way to celebrate you.”

Students are required to have a 3.3 GPA and complete 24 credit hours. As a token of appreciation, McClaren told the new members that their dues would be paid by the University for their first year of membership.
