Soft Skills at Work: Preparing Peace Students for the Professional World

Communication, problem-solving, leadership, and time management.

These are skills that are crucial in the workplace.

Luckily for students at William Peace University, they are learning those important skills in the classroom to prepare them for job interviews and success once hired after graduation.

Students at Peace enroll in Professional Development (PDS) courses to prepare them for their careers. One of those courses is PDS 300, which helps students build a strong career foundation and identify their professional skills, including soft skills — skills students don’t always realize are critical when it comes to getting hired.

The PDS courses follow a blueprint laid out by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), covering competencies such as professionalism, communication, technology, equity and inclusion, and critical thinking.
