William Peace University student Elise Langer ’27 completed a highly competitive summer research program through Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU). Making Waves REU is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and has two areas of focus: oceanographic research and science communication.
Langer researched the biogeochemical cycling of dissolved zinc and its isotopes in the Arctic Ocean. She also worked with a student team to produce a science communication podcast to highlight their research and make STEM topics accessible to the public. Langer said she enjoyed everything about the experience, particularly the exposure to others who share her interest in science.
