Dr. Stacey Sowell, vice president of enrollment management and student success at Shaw University, has been appointed to serve on the State Library Commission of North Carolina, an advisory board to the Secretary of Natural and Cultural Resources.
The Commission advises on library operations, approves plans and funding for library development, and works to secure financial support for public and statewide library services.
Dr. Sowell has long been a champion of literacy and public libraries. “As a child, one of my most valued possessions was my library card,” she said. “Though I rarely left my home state, I was able to travel the world through the pages of books. I am truly elated to serve the State of North Carolina in this capacity.”
